FAQs

Question: Are you a licensed tattoo artist?

Answer: Yes, I am fully licensed by the state of New York to legally perform tattoos. I have completed all the proper training and obtained the necessary certifications required by the state to safely and professionally tattoo clients. Your tattoo session will take place at The Secret Bloom Studio, which is a private and discreet studio situated within a commercial-only building for your comfort and privacy.

Question: Are the materials used / workplace sterile?

Answer: All the equipment and working surfaces are meticulously and thoroughly covered with special protective materials whenever in use, ensuring a consistently clean and safe environment. I make it a strict point to use only disposable supplies, which include cartridges, ink caps, and protective coverings for the tattoo machine, among several other items. The cartridges I utilize are always brand new, sterile, and are carefully unpacked directly in front of the client to guarantee their freshness, hygiene, and safety throughout the entire procedure.

Question: What pigments do I use in my work? Can there be allergy to them?

Answer: I use professional quality, pre-dispersed tattoo ink that is proudly made in the USA. This ink is 100% vegan and completely cruelty-free, ensuring ethical standards are met. If you have any concerns about potential allergies to the pigment, I encourage you to review the detailed components listed on the manufacturer’s website and consult with your dermatologist before getting your tattoo.

Question: Do you only do floral tattoos?

Answer: No, I truly do everything in every possible style. I will gladly take on your project, regardless of whether it has a floral theme or not. That said, I am especially known for my unique floral style, which has become a defining and significant part of my overall artistic identity and body of work.

Question: Can you cover up my tattoo from another artist?

Answer: No, I’m not a cover-up artist. While the fine line style is delicate and elegant, it may not be the most effective choice for covering up preexisting bold or American traditional style tattoos. However, I can certainly work with you to design a new, beautiful floral tattoo in a different placement that will complement your skin and enhance your overall look. Together, we can create something unique and meaningful that suits your personal style perfectly.

Question: Can you send me the design beforehand?

Answer: I do not send the design before the appointment for several important reasons. There are always certain nuances regarding size, placement, and other intricate details that I need to explain and demonstrate clearly in person. It is much easier and more convenient to discuss everything thoroughly one more time during our appointment, ensuring no misunderstandings. Typically, I prepare the outlines of the main flowers ahead of time to guide the process, and then I add various delicate elements either with freehand techniques or, in some cases, I create the entire project using freehand methods. This personalized approach allows us to ensure that the tattoo can be positioned in the most harmonious and visually pleasing way on your body, perfectly tailored to your unique preferences, style, and anatomy.

Question: Can I bring my friends & family with me while I get tattooed?

Answer: I kindly request that you attend your appointment independently, without any additional guests accompanying you. Due to important sanitary regulations and liability concerns, only the clients who have scheduled an appointment will be permitted entry into the studio. Any extra guests accompanying you are welcome to wait comfortably in the lobby area located downstairs in the building while your session is in progress. Additionally, for your convenience, we are conveniently situated just a few blocks away from several amazing cafés and a variety of shopping options where your guests can enjoy themselves during your appointment!

Question: How long will my appointment take?

Answer: Everything will be completed in one session, and I’ll be sure to let you know approximately 15 to 20 minutes before we finish with everything. This way, you will have enough time to comfortably call for your ride if you need one, ensuring a smooth and stress-free end to your appointment.

Question: I love your work, do you tattoos over scars?

Answer: Yes, I have extensive experience tattooing over a wide variety of scars, including cuts, scrapes, injuries, mastectomy scars, burns, scars from weight loss surgery or other surgical procedures, as well as stretch marks. You’re definitely in good hands. This work requires a high level of skill, patience, and a delicate approach to ensure the best results while respecting the skin’s unique texture and healing process.

Question: How do I prepare for my appointment?

Answer: Before your appointment:

  • Make sure to eat a healthy meal at least three hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. This allows your body ample time to digest the food properly and ensures that you are feeling your best during your tattoo session.

  • Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for your overall well-being and daily functioning. Ensuring that you rest adequately can significantly improve your mood, cognitive abilities, and physical health. Prioritizing quality sleep can lead to a more productive and fulfilling day of getting tattooed.

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure, as it can lead to dry, burnt, or peeling skin, which can significantly interfere with the tattooing process. Proper care of your skin before getting a tattoo is essential to ensure the best possible results and to promote healing afterward.

  • Moisturize your skin thoroughly a few days in advance to ensure it remains hydrated and healthy. This extra care can help improve your skin's texture and appearance during your tattoo session.

  • Please refrain from taking blood thinners, antibiotics, or steroids, as these medications can have significant interactions and side effects that may complicate your health situation. It is important to follow your healthcare provider's guidance regarding the use of such medications to ensure your safety and well-being during your tattoo session.

  • It is important to avoid the consumption of alcohol or drugs for various reasons. Engaging in these activities can lead to numerous health issues and negatively impact one's overall well-being during your tattoo session.

  • Limit your caffeine intake by consuming no more than one cup of coffee on the day of your tattooing appointment. This can help ensure that your body is in the best state for the process and may contribute to a more comfortable experience during the procedure.

  • It is important to shower before the appointment: having dirty or excessively dry skin can significantly affect the tattooing process and the overall outcome of the design. Clean skin ensures better adherence of ink and helps the artist in doing their job effectively.
